TITLE: Vitrine containing wheel fragments crushed beneath two tons of concrete, 2005

DIMENSIONS: 46” x 25” x 12.25”

MATERIALS: wood, paint, denim, acrylic, broken plastic wheels

The remnants of 10 broken wheels which were crushed under two tons of weight are presented in a display case. Although the wheels were at one time part of the sculpture/performance, 2 Tons of "Take That!" (on wheels), 2001, they have gained a new importance and meaning as objects having survived a tremendous amount of stress. The broken wheels on display simultaneously historicize a past action, while taking on new meaning as discrete objects.
